Art & Theatre

Best known as the birthplace of Canada, PEI is a mosaic of Mik’maq, Scottish, Irish, and Acadian heritages. While you’re here, take time to explore the Island’s rich tapestry of history and culture as it’s exhibited and expressed in our museums, art, music, and performance.

You’ll find there’s something in the air on PEI that feeds the soul and fires the creative senses. The Island is home to scores of artisans who ply their talents in a dazzling array of time-honored and contemporary forms. Studios, galleries, and quaint boutiques are found in the most unexpected places and you’ll delight in everything from handcrafted quilts, rugs, and woodwork to distinctive paintings, pottery, and jewelry.

The Island also has a thriving theatre and performing arts community. From main stage performances at the Confederation Centre of the Arts to original productions at one of our small community theatres, you are sure to be surprised by the scope and variety we have to offer. No less exciting is PEI’s music scene. Whether your tastes lean toward classical, jazz, blues, celtic, rock, or country, internationally renowned performers and up-and-comers are playing it here.
